Life Support? Definitely Not.

“…put your desk in the corner, and every time you sit down there to write, remind yourself why it isn’t in the middle of the room. Life isn’t a support-system for art. It’s the other way around.”

Stephen King On Writing (101)

  1. I love that book. I think our lives are our greatest works of art, which inspires me when I am tempted to spend too much time in front of the TV. Writing and my other arty endeavors help me frame my experiences, and thoroughly examine them–squeeze more life out of them. Even if no one else were to ever care, writing increases my gratitude, my awareness and my connection with my creator (even the silly posts about underwear.)

    • Isn’t Stephen King the most brilliant of brilliances? I can never believe the wisdom I find in ON WRITING. I’ve read it more than once, but I learn something new with each read.

    • Amber – No worries. I’m impressed that anyone has enough time to read anything I write, and you’ve read some of my secret manuscript stuff 🙂 so I’m just super-blessed to know you.

What are your thoughts on life, the universe, and everything?
