The Groanings of a Teacher’s Heart


Students write really personal things sometimes. They write about all of the same things adults write about. They write about betrayal, joy, fear, God, family, the future, hope…

They write about everything.

And they turn it in.

They turn in work that ends with: “I miss you, Papa. But don’t come home, please.”

And it wrenches your heart.
